Pacaya Samiria National Reserve Tour: 10 days and 9 nights

Day 1:

Transfer from your hotel or airport to the city of Nauta.
Cruise along the Marañón and Pucate Rivers to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
Arrival at our refuge located in the Buenos Aires community.
Nighttime canoe excursion to observe caimans and other species.

Day 2:

Sunrise birdwatching tour.
Jungle hike to observe giant trees.
Sport fishing for piranhas and other species on the «Selva de los espejos» river.

Day 3:

Jungle hike – Camping.
Canoe expedition in search of the largest fish in the Amazon: the Paiche (Giga Arapaima).
Excursion to search for and observe animals such as giant river otters, tapirs, peccaries, giant armadillos, etc. If we’re lucky, we might even spot an anaconda.

Day 4:

Walk through the jungle to observe monkeys, insects, birds, and everything nature has to offer.
Return to the refuge.
Observe the Lupuna, one of the largest trees in the Amazon.
Night walk – Camping in the jungle.

Day 5:

Navigate into the jungle to another area of ​​the reserve.
Early morning canoe expedition to observe various monkeys on the riverbanks, such as the squirrel monkey, the black capuchin monkey, the howler monkey, among others.

Days 6-7-8-9:

Landscape observation and abundant aquatic fauna will make your trip truly unique.
There’s a chance to see many different species of birds, including macaws, toucans, kingfishers, and herons, among others.
There is also the chance to see some of the Amazon rainforest’s most famous animals, such as anacondas, boas, jaguars (locally called Otorongo), and manatees, to name a few.
Of course, a bit of luck is required, as spotting them is not guaranteed.
This place is also excellent for observing monkeys, snakes, amphibians, and other animals.
During the jungle walks, we will have the opportunity to encounter different species of monkeys, especially howler monkeys, as well as other animals, frogs, salamanders, snakes such as boas and anacondas, and many species of birds, including the giant hummingbird, eagles, macaws, and toucans, among others.
Camping on the riverbank or in the jungle – depending on the river level.
Return to the Yoshua refuge on day 9.
Visit the Buenos Aires community to learn about their customs and traditions.
Visit with local artisans – Purchase of handicrafts: optional.

 Day 10:

Sail to the city of Nauta-Iquitos.
Return to Iquitos – Transfer to your hotel or airport.
